Interview: Thom Vernersson

1. You are a Global Partner Manager at Milestone, but what is your story?

My journey began in Sweden, where I was born and raised. I’m now living in Stockholm, where I work from Milestone's Stockholm office and also travel abroad for work. My expertise lies in surpassing client expectations and building strong partnerships.
On a personal level, I have an open mindset and love trying new activities with friends. Recently, I've taken up Tennis, which I enjoy a lot as it requires creativity and problem-solving skills, much like my
approach to work.
I'm driven by targets and dedicated to providing exceptional service. My career started in a technical field, which ignited my passion for technology and understanding its intricacies. This foundation has greatly influenced my work at Milestone.

2. What is your internal career development story?

I started my journey with Milestone in 2018 as a Solution Engineer for the Nordics, and I am grateful for the support and mentorship I've received from all my colleagues, collaborators, and industry connections along the way. From day one, I felt welcomed by a fantastic team that was always ready to assist.
In my role as a Solution Engineer, I had the opportunity to develop my technical skills and gain extensive knowledge of Milestone's products and services, as well as broader IT infrastructure solutions. Working closely with the sales team, I played a crucial role in building technical credibility during the sales process and providing valuable insights to partners and customers. Over time, I earned a reputation as a trusted advisor among our customers.
Driven by a passion for sales and a desire to deepen relationships with strategic partners, I transitioned to the role of Channel Business Manager for Sweden in 2021. Here, I focused on developing and executing business plans with managed partners to drive revenue growth. This role provided significant personal and professional growth opportunities.
In 2023, I seized the opportunity to join Milestone's newly established Global Partner Sales team as a Global Partner Manager. In this role, I am responsible for managing and developing relationships with some of our key global partners, driving revenue growth by orchestrating engagement across regions and functions. I help positioning Milestone as the preferred partner for Video Management Systems by developing and executing global joint business plans in alignment with regional teams.

3. How did the job transition/ internal development helped you grow personally & professionally?

Milestone has provided me with the opportunity to channel my focus into innovative sales approaches while keeping me up-to-date with the latest industry technology. This, coupled with the invaluable support, guidance, patience, and encouragement from both managers and colleagues
have significantly shaped my career journey.

4. What is your best career advice?

I highly recommend having a passion for your work and a strong desire to succeed. This entails actively seeking out opportunities for personal growth and continuously supporting customers and partners in their own development journeys.
